Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Eighteen24’s student DOOH network different from other OOH options?

Our screens are exclusively located within high-footfall Students’ Unions across the UK, right where Gen Z studies, socialises, exercises, parties, eats, drinks and shops. Unlike high street and roadside DOOH locations, our placements offer far longer dwell time, greater contextual relevance, and less visual clutter, making your brand stand out in a high-attention trusted environment with a 100% Student Gen Z audience.

What’s the difference between advertising on DOOH screens in student halls vs. Students' Unions? Which works best for my brand?

Both options would ensure your brand is seen by students, but within Students’ Union advertising environments the benefits are plentiful:

  • Maximum Reach – Even the largest student accommodation blocks house under 100 students per block, and those currently furnished with DOOH advertising screens are off-campus, with the vast majority of residents being made up of 1st year students. In stark contrast, Students’ Unions are inclusive by design, centrally located in the heart of campus and visited by all student types (no matter what study year they are in, what subject they are studying, or indeed what type of accommodation they are living in) perfect for targeting the widest unique student audience possible.  From 1st years all the way through to PhD students – SU’s are the true ‘home away from home’ for the entire student cohort.
  • Optimised Unique Impressions – Our screens are seen by millions of students. Your investment with us buys the best reach available in market at an optimised frequency against unique impressions. Halls offer a more narrowcast reach with a significant excess of unique impressions.
  • Value for money – To make your budget work as hard as possible, using DOOH within Students’ Union environments means you will cover students across all study years, including 1st years. Buying both Halls and Students’ Union environments in tandem leaves you at risk of buying a subsector of the first-year cohort twice. By redeploying any asigned Halls budget back into Students’ Union DOOH display you will reach a far larger audience of not only 1st year students, but all students.
  • Trusted Environment – Students love their SU’s, your ad will be seen in a place that is not only regularly frequented by students, but is trusted explicitly by them.
  • The Ultimate Gen Z Student noticeboard – Students are hardwired to look at our SU screens: One slot in the advertising loop is always reserved for Student’s Union advertising to promote their own upcoming events, as such, students view the screens regularly to see what’s happening on campus ensuring our screens deliver active rather than passive views.
  • Action orientated environments – Students are often in possession of both phones and laptops whilst in the SU, meaning they can switch from the physical to the digital with ease.  They have the ability to take direct action after seeing screens advertisements.  Equally, students in the SU will be in direct proximity to stores, bars and food outlets on campus, and can be primed to make instant purchases via our screens.

How do you verify footfall and screen impressions?

We work with independent data partners to provide audited footfall and impression data across our network. Our reporting includes estimated impacts, screen reach and frequency by location - so you can plan with confidence and accountability.

What kind of audience targeting do you offer?

We offer contextual targeting by campus location, day of week, or term period. While our screens are not yet programmatic (but watch this space!), we can help you optimise your media plan based on student behaviours - think Freshers Week vs Exam Period, Lunchtime meet ups vs Late-Night dwell zones, etc.

Can I run campaigns nationally or by region?

Yes - you can go national across our UK-wide Students' Union network, or cherry-pick specific regions, cities or even individual Universities to align with your brand strategy or distribution footprint.

What creative formats do you support?

Our D6 screens support high-impact static, part or full motion creatives. Every screen in our portfolio is equipped to run full motion copy.  Standardly we recommend 10-second ads running within 60 second loops, but our team are always on hand to advise on best practices and offer creative advice if needed. Click here: for our standard digital copy spec. We can also run digital reels (10-30 seconds) originally created for social platforms with ease.  Reach out to the team to learn more about this opportunity.

Do students engage with these screens?

Absolutely. Our screens are placed in high dwell-time environments like cafés, corridors, gyms, study areas, bars, shops and major entrances. Unlike fast-scrolling mobile ads, our placements command attention and build repeated exposure across the day, increasing recall and engagement.

What kind of brands have advertised with Eighteen24?

We’ve worked with both challenger and household brands - across FMCG, fashion, tech, food delivery, transport, public sector, entertainment and lifestyle to name a few. Our platform is trusted by brands who want to build early affinity and LTV with Gen Z in a trusted, relevant environment.

How does pricing compare to other OOH media?

We offer high-impact placements at a cost-effective CPM - often outperforming traditional OOH in terms of attention and contextual relevance. Our team can work with you to build bespoke media packages that match your budget and objectives.

How flexible is the booking process?

Very. We can accommodate short-term bursts (2–4 weeks), term-long takeovers, or year-round presence. Our campaigns are easy to book, fast to activate, and backed by a responsive team who understands media agency workflows.

Is there a minimum spend or campaign size?

We’re flexible. Whether you’re looking for a national campaign or targeting just a handful of key Universities, we can tailor a package to suit your objectives and budget. While most campaigns are larger scale, there’s no strict minimum spend - we’ll work with you to find the right approach that delivers impact and value. If you’re testing the channel or have a specific brief in mind, just talk to us - we’ll make it work.

Can I measure campaign effectiveness post-launch?

Yes - we offer post-campaign reports with impressions and screen-level delivery via our partners at Broadsign. Depending on the campaign, we can also support with brand uplift studies or custom research partnerships to help you prove effectiveness and are always happy to quote for any study you would like to complete on campus or online.

How quickly can you get a campaign live?

Within 24-48 hrs. Need something faster? Just ask.  We’re agile and used to working to tight media agency timelines.  Need to pivot creative mid-flight?  No problem - with 24-48 hours’ notice we can swap creative quickly and seamlessly.  Just tell us what you need, and we’ll make it happen.  Our screens also support dynamic scheduling, so copy can be tailored in advance by location, time of day, or live triggers such as weather - ensuring your message is always timely and relevant.

Can you help with campaign creative or production?

Yes - our in-house team can offer creative support, including adapting assets to fit DOOH specs, creating static/animated formats, or producing mock-ups to show your client. We can also advise on messaging best practices for Student Gen Z attention.

Is the environment brand safe – and how does approval work?

Yes - 100% brand safe. All content is pre-approved by Universities to ensure it’s right for their student audience.  The process is quick and seamless, with no unnecessary hoops.

Plus, with a fully 18+ audience, you can run alcohol, 18-rated film, and other campaigns that often face restrictions elsewhere – giving you more freedom and fewer barriers.

Do you offer exclusivity by sector or category?

We can discuss short-term exclusivity on a campus or network level for certain categories, depending on campaign scale and timing. Just let us know your goals and we’ll endeavour to build a bespoke solution.

What if I want to test this first before scaling up?

No problem - we often work with brands on initial test bursts in a handful of high-impact Students' Union locations before scaling up. This allows you to measure effectiveness and optimise future media planning with data-backed insights.

Can this be added to a multi-channel media plan?

Absolutely. Our screens complement wider Gen Z media plans - whether you’re running social, audio, campus experiential, or influencer marketing. Many of our partners use Eighteen24 to strengthen omnichannel brand presence and drive top-of-funnel engagement.

Are there opportunities for brand takeovers or full domination?

Yes - we offer full screen takeovers by campus, region or across the entire network. Perfect for campaign moments like product launches, or recruitment drives, where you want maximum share of voice.

Do students notice or act on DOOH ads?

Yes - students are highly responsive to messaging that is well-placed, well-designed and relevant. Many campaigns see direct uplift in brand search, app installs, QR scans, social follows or in-store activity when paired with a strong call-to-action.

Can I book term-time only or around key student calendar moments?

Yes - you can align campaigns to key student calendar peaks like Freshers, Halloween, Black Friday, Exam Periods, or even Graduation. We’ll guide you on the most impactful timing for your category.

How do your screens integrate into the student environment?

Our screens are embedded into the Students' Union environment - meaning they feel native, not intrusive. They’re located in places students spend time daily, not walk past once. This repeated exposure builds subconscious brand affinity over time.

Can you provide case studies or campaign image examples?

Absolutely - we’d be happy to share anonymised results and visuals from previous campaigns. If you need to sell in internally or to a client, we’ve got the materials to support your pitch.
